Brief description:
The course advances learners into application of elements and principles of art and design to the construction of compositions using human figure, natural and artificial forms.
Course objectives:
The course aims to enable students:
• To be able to use value contrasts and relationship of forms in Drawing
• To know the human skeleton structure, proportionality and articulation
• To know elements and principles of Art and Design for compositions of forms in Drawing
Learning outcomes:
By the end of this course the student should be able to:
• Draw compositions of forms that reveal an understanding of principles such as proportion and contrast.
• Show competence in use of value contrasts to make drawing compositions from living and non-living forms.
• Develop ability to draw and effectively show structure and motion in human figure.
Detailed course description
• Compositions
Study of value contrasts, positive and reverse shading, tone gradation; linear and aerial perspective; light and shadow; proportion, exploration of the surroundings; still life, landscape, living, non-living and artificial objects
• Inspired Production
Viewing and discussing drawings of famous artists. Produce pictorial compositions (presentations) of still-life, landscape and the surroundings
• Human anatomy
Introductory studies of the human skeleton structure, proportions for shortening; articulation and expression.
